It's a chilly night. Most of the snow has melted except under north-facing stones and walls. Jack holds Lorne's hand tighter and picks up the pace, glad to be taking his sweetheart home.

The hike back up to their cabin is difficult. Jack's feet slide in her too-big boots, her jeans drag in the snow, and she keeps nearly dropping the slippery bundle of silk and shoes she got from the bar.

It's a more than a relief than usual to get to the cabin, and she tosses off her heavy coat the moment they're inside.

As soon as they're inside the cabin, Jack starts tugging on Lorne's coat and kisses him desperately.

Jack leads Lorne upstairs, still humming the Leonard Cohen song, and tosses his shirt aside once the door is closed.

Jack closes the door and looks at Lorne, a nearly wolfish gleam in his eye.

"Ready to arm-wrestle?"

Jack pulls Lorne into his room and shuts the door, pushing him against it for a hard kiss before he pulls away.

"Music."

Jack has packed two backpacks with food, bedrolls, extra socks and first aid kits. He stretches up a little as he pulls the straps of his over his shoulders.

"Evan? Ready to go?"

Jack hustles Lorne upstairs and to his room as quick as they can go. His hand is wrapped in the back of Lorne's jacket the entire way.

It's still the new moon, though it'll be first quarter soon, so the moonlight is still small and pale.

Jack walks holding Lorne's hand, pausing to kiss him often. "I hear there's a squid in the lake," he murmurs.

There's a trail through the forest and another around the lake, and Jack hesitates at which one to take. "There's not a bad view anywhere," he says thoughtfully.
